NFNO to host National Trailblazer Event
05/03/2019

On behalf of the tri-borough No First Night Out project (NFNO), and fellow members of the Homelessness Prevention Trailblazer Working Group (HPTWG), we are inviting similar services from across the country to join us for a celebratory event here in the City of London on Friday 17th May 2019.

In June 2018, several of the London-based Rough Sleeping Grant trailblazer and homelessness prevention services met to discuss the benefits of creating a formal group. Initially, we met with the premise of better understanding one another’s services and where possible to offer support and guidance with our shared challenges and constraints.

Thanks to the commitment of group members we continue to meet every six weeks. In this time, we have developed a Memorandum of Understanding, Terms of Reference, and agreed to the following key objectives:

  1. Host a peer-led, national event for all RSG-funded trailblazers and prevention services, to showcase and celebrate our achievements
  2. Collate shared data and outcomes to evidence the impact and cost-benefit of homelessness prevention services

The HPTWG has hugely benefitted from the opportunity to work closely together, and though we and out-of-London services can vary in our approach, we are all united by the same belief: that prevention is paramount to ending homelessness (and worth shouting about!).

If services are interesting in partaking in the day, whether that’s simply to attend or to present, please do respond and share your thoughts. We want to hear from as many of you as possible.

We are hopeful that concluding thoughts will form a joint message to central government stressing the vital importance that prevention work can and should play in achieving the commitments of the 2018 Rough Sleeping Strategy.

Invitations have been circulated by our Project Manager Kirsty. If you haven’t received one but would like to be involved please Contact Us!
